Wern Holiday Cottage - Conwy, Snowdonia   -   Where The Mountains Meet The Sea

Comments from our Guests

An excellent cottage - the best says my wife, of all she/we have stayed in.  Extremely well equipped and comfortable.  The comments earlier in this book say it all.  North Wales is an under rated jewel that is full of things of natural and historic interest.  We've enjoyed Bodnant Gardens, the beach near Porthmadoc, a return visit to No. 6's Portmeirion, the castles of Conwy and Caernarvon and walks high over the village here.  We thoroughly recommend Harry's Bistro at the golf club just beyond Beaumaris; we advise early booking of the railway up Snowdon or early parking to walk up - very busy in high season; also the cable car up the Great Orme is subject to closure in windy weather.  We've found everyone around here very friendly.  Many Thanks.

What a beautiful cottage, definitely worth its 5 stars.  In fact, everything deserves 5 stars, from booking, the warm welcome, the wine and hamper and particularly the birthday present left for Eleanor.  You really have thought of everything!  Our rather adventurous 10 year old daughter absolutely loved ‘Ropes and Ladders’ at Llanberis, but also enjoyed the cable car at The Great Orme and the boat trip round Puffin Island, not to mention watching the wide variety of birds in the garden here.  We will certainly be recommending you to our friends. Thank You!

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful cottage, and all your effort in making this a great home to explore Wales from.  Ella really enjoyed celebrating her birthday here and watching all the birds and squirrels in the garden.  We really loved visiting Greenwood which is fantastic for children of all ages.  We can't wait to make a return trip here.

What a lovely place. The Welsh grading system needs at least 2 more stars for you! All the little extras that make this place stand out. The welcome pack / loaf / wine etc. are way beyond necessary, but most acceptable. Thank you so much for making this a very special holiday. The weather could have been better, but we still enjoyed everything. The Bistro is an excellent place for food and a friendly welcome and the Fairy Glen a friendly pub. Thanks again.

A beautiful home from home! We have spent a wonderful week exploring the sights of North wales, especially the castles of Beaumaris and Conway, as well as plas mawr. Our daughter particularly enjoyed building sandcastles and taking her first steps into the sea. A highlight was our trip on a steam train with a brief visit to the picturesque village of Beddgelert. We will certainly be recommending the area and cottage to family & friends. Thank you so much for creating such a lovely place to stay.

A perfect cottage in a beautiful setting, great views all around.  First class location for cycling, walking and running.  My daughter adored the squirrels, birds and dormouse and made sure they were well fed.  Thanks for a great holiday and hopefully we will return again in the future.  One suggestion would be somewhere to lock up bikes safely.

Donna, Brian, John & Beth,   Southampton - July '10

Thanks for the great comments.  We will definitely look into providing a safe lock-up facility for bikes as soon as possible. - Jane & Laurence

A wonderful cottage in a wonderful location.  Thank you for making this holiday so special and one we will always remember.  For anyone wishing to eat out you can’t go wrong dining at the ‘Bunkers Bistro”  good food and lovely views.   July ’10  Skegby, Notts.

What can we say that hasn't been said?  A beautiful cottage, everything you could ever want and a good location.  We had a wonderful time, the weather was superb.  Thank you for the welcome pack and fresh flowers, a lovely touch.  Hope to come back again, a week isn't long enough at such a lovely place.

An amazing week - weather glorious, all sunburnt.  Fantastic walk up Snowdon and Cwm Idwal.  Excellent day trips to Portmeirion and Chester.  Girls loved swimming with Holywell and Llandudno swimming clubs.  House lovely, thank you.

Simon, Rosemary, Jennifer & Sarah,  Leamington Spa - May '10

Peaceful stay in the cottage.  So comfortable, where you feel at home, with birds and squirrels or visit the main places of North Wales.  Thank You for all !

Viviane and Michael,  Onhaye, Belgium - May '10

We loved your cottage, especially after a spartan stay in the week previous.  The attention to detail, for example the welcome gifts were truly appreciated.  The location was ideal for us with Snowdonia, Anglesey and Sychnant Pass close by.  An excellent selection of CD's and DVD's was appreciated despite the lack of rain.  Your hospitality and the charm and comfort of Wern Cottage enveloped and relaxed us!  Thanks.

Jeff & Joan,  Southampton, Hants - May '10

A lovely first holiday with our baby son.  A great base to explore around and a lovely cottage.  Will definitely be returning!  Thank You.
P.S.  Fantastic hearty meal in the Austrian  - fantastic choice of puddings!

The cottage was super and the weather was excellent.  Thanks for the wine, bara brith and milk.  Most welcome.  The birds and the squirrel were a delight to watch every morning.

Have had a great time visiting my sister who has been staying in this most beautiful home from home cottage.  All the details perfectly matched and so warm, cosy and friendly.  Thank you and well done.

Really enjoyed our stay here.  Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.  Glorious weather but a shame we were too early to see any Puffins!

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place.  Our first time in North Wales but certainly not our last.  Thank You.  One week just wasn't enough.

Emma, Brian, Sam & Joe,  Rearsby, Leics - April '10

Thoroughly enjoyed our week here.  It is such a pretty house set in a stunning location which is really relaxing.  The squirrel and blue tits obviously love it too!  Thank you for all the little extras around the house, especially the gorgeous daffodils in every room, which were so welcoming.

Heather & Stuart,  South Wales - March '10

Thank you for prompting us to explore yet another part of Wales.  You have created a first class home rather than a holiday let, which we have enjoyed sharing.  Your attention to detail and comfort could not be exceeded.  Diolch o galon i chi'ch dau!

Margaret & Basil,  South Wales - March '10

We have had a really perfect holiday in a most wonderful cottage.  The attention to detail is so obvious and we give a huge thank you to Jane and Laurence for this and they deserve to go from success to success for their hard work in reflecting the perfect home from home for their visitors.

Ian, Tracey, Danielle & Lauren,  Ceredigion - February '10

Perfect.  Already booked the next stay.  Peerless in my experience. Worth every star.

Fantastic cottage! We’ve really enjoyed our stay—it seems as if you’ve thought of everything needed for the perfect holiday place. We’ll be back - hopefully sooner rather than later.’

‘Beautifully decorated and furnished cottage - lots of little touches to make life comfortable - all the equipment and appliances you could possibly need. We would love to visit again to enjoy the restful atmosphere and beautiful scenery.’

Linda & Kay, Wooton-under-Edge - November ‘09

‘What a lovely house! You’ve done a great job! Belinda doesn’t want to go home as she’s not completed Labyrinth yet……..we’ll be back. We even had great weather.'

Nigel, Hilary & Belinda, King’s Lynn - November ‘09

‘It was our 1st cottage holiday together and you made it so special for us with the scones and bread etc. and the fresh flowers lots of fuel for a romantic fire. The kitchen is fantastically equipped.  Little touches like this make such a difference.  We also enjoyed looking through the walk books and we watched a couple of DVDs as well and I thought the binoculars and bird book in the conservatory were a really good idea’.

Laura & Rob, Hitchin - October ‘09

‘We’ve stayed in a few places before but this time it felt like we were borrowing a friends house. A real home from home. We appreciated all the little touches’.

Gurnam & Rebecca, London - September ‘09

‘For me it was the lovely nostalgia of seeing all my childhood holiday haunts once again. I'm amazed how little has changed in 40 years - we saw only one "new" house in the village - otherwise all looked externally as it was before. You've done wonders with the cottage …… I particularly liked sitting out in the side garden’.

Helen & Colin, Market Harborough - September ‘09

‘We’ve really enjoyed our stay, thank you for providing such a wonderful base for all our trips out. We love the way you’ve decorated and all the attention to detail, to make this a very comfortable cottage with everything we could possibly need’.

Elaine & Colin, Sevenoaks - September ‘09
